I don't think anyone is trying to deny you your right to talk absolute bobbins, but merely exercising their right to call you out on it.

I heard the words 'scampi', 'Gunn' and 'club' mentioned.

A bit late but 78 today. The word legend does not even cover it.

Sorry but I don't agree that its a good thing we are out.I am sure the 20,000 or more people who went to the match can't be happy with the result. Most of the players in the match will not play in our next match or any of the matches coming up unless there is a injury crisis or we sell players. so if we had a replay it would not affect the first team greatly .I am from the time when we had 11 first team players and around 5 who would be up to playing in the first team if required, when we had the league cup run years ago when we won at Arsenal and beat Chelsea it was a full first team and the opposition was star studded .those players would then play on the Saturday without being affected .I know people will say but it's different now,I agree the ball is lighter and the pitches are better but the games the same. Also a good cup run can bring in income.

Lois-Jean in that group too- just never fit in all his time here. I remember taking about 30 seconds to work out who he was on an end of season lap of honour one season.

I’d take winning the fa cup over promotion. We’ll get promoted (and relegated) again in the future no doubt, how many times will we win an FA cup? The problem though is that, as mentioned by others, the big boys actually do take it fairly seriously and the majority of the teams in the country have virtually no chance of winning it. If we got to the semi final, we wouldn’t put a second string side out to ‘focus on the league’... but given that the chances of getting to even a semi final are slim, the league takes priority.

Sent to me by a friend who found this on Twatter. WARNING IT DOES CONTAIN BAD LANGUAGE. https://twitter.com/oliverallenitt/status/1081679420811890688?s=12&fbclid=IwAR0-WlMafWDFOth6urKGVswz66qUIJnmmM0tGG2cPyzLBvQ1AjLextpy8gg Well i found it funny in parts especially the description of some of the Scum players.

I attended the Blunts v Barnet match today (tickets were cheap and not a lot else to do and I live a mile away) and the Blunts had 11 changed players starting when compared to last match, with 2 new signings in the 11. and so it was no surprise that they were totally incohesive, looking for either the easy ball and thus not moving forward (passing back and sideways like us last season), or trying something not seen in other matches which met with confusion by their teammates. And they had no pace whatsoever whereas Barnet had 3 or 4 Olympic sprinters in their side albeit with no real skill. However their pace was key against players who between them, probably only two had played 90 minutes all season. Despite 3 subs on, at least half the Blunts were out on their feet with 15 minutes to go! So, was this deliberate? Well Wilder never really got going like he does usually so my conclusion is that he wasn't really that bothered. Sure he wanted to see what his fringe players could do, but to be frank, very few would trouble any team in the championship. Whether this means Wilder gets to dip into the market more before we play them, well, I think that was his main aim from the match. How do I know? Well he's said as much down the pub over Xmas (we drink in the same pub). He knows he only has a core of 12-13 good players, the rest can just do a job. But he has no cash to play with whilst the Board continue to be hamstrung by two competing part owners. It may be this match will change this so expect a very different approach when they arrive at the Carra.

I think most of this "magic of the cup" stuff is media driven. Listening to 5 live after the game they were pushing the same old nonsense about how players and fans would choose winning the FA cup over promotion if only the mean old money people running the clubs would let them. Which is cobblers of course, because it's been nearly 40 years since anyone outside the top division won the FA cup and with the odd exception it's always one of the big names that wins it. The reality is that we have a much better chance of promotion than we do of winning the FA cup, so if it's a choice between promotion or a couple of extra games before going out in the 5th round, I think I know which most of us would choose.

The FA Cup has become a joke competition - summed up by the ridiculous kick-off times across the weekend. The only reason the ‘big six’ take it more seriously is because their squads can handle it more easily and, as only one of them can win the league title, a trophy will help to appease the fans. ( A trophy more easily winnable for them because the other fourteen PL teams and seemingly, the entire Championship teams, field heavily weakened teams.) This weekend is very much like the international breaks - an opportunity to take a break from football and do other things.....

McGovern - did okay in terms of his distribution I thought, was looking to play short most occasions but Portsmouth did stifle the short ball in the second half (still not a patch on Krul). Didn’t have much to do much in terms of shot stopping but nearly gifted them a goal after failing to cling on to a shot that would barely even warm a worm... 5.5/10 Godfrey - definitely looked a lot more comfortable at CB and didn’t really put a foot wrong from what I can remember. Always composed with the ball and made some good positive passes. 8/10 Hanley - thought his red was harsh in the game as the ref didn’t seem to take any time to think about it, however having watched it back I can see why! I’m not sure how anyone can say it isn’t a red after watching a replay, the striker was completely clean through and about 2 seconds away from being in a clear sight of goal. Not sure what Hanley was thinking?! It was 15 mins into a third round cup match not the last minute of a must win title decider... 2/10 Zimmermann - very impressed with his performance, similarly to Godfrey - always so composed with the ball and his distribution was spot on. Also saved a certain goal from McGovern’s error with a superb sliding tackle and managed to hook away a very awkward cross from 3 yards out when an own goal looked more than likely! 8.5/10 Passlack - some decent touches but definitely not the same kind of outlet as Aarons when going forwards, nor does he have the pace / engine when coming back. 6/10 Marshall - looked okay up until the Hanley sending off when he was moved to left back. Had been linking up quite nicely with McLean and Srbeny up to then. He also put two lovely diagonal balls over the top for Cantwell and Passlack in the first half. I’m not sure if he was unhappy/sulking a bit with being moved to LB and at being denied an opportunity to impress but he really did not seem to want to be there! Every time he was under pressure he over committed and sold himself, even excusing the fact he’s out of position - it’s surely basic for any player to know to sit off when 1 v 2 yet he seemed to only have eyes for the ball. Seemed a bit half hearted to be honest but maybe he has a right to feel aggrieved. Could barely run by the end so maybe tiredness played a part. 5/10 McLean - as hogesar mentioned, he got better and better as the game went on, by the end he was an integral part in all our good play going forwards. A few sloppy passes throughout the game but nothing that can’t be excused for lack of playing time. His willingness to receive the ball in tight areas, turn and dribble to create space/new angles, reminded me of Maddison somewhat.. think we’ll be seeing more of him as the season progresses! 7/10 Trybull - a solid performance by all accounts, used the ball well, was less involved as McLean grew into the game. 6.5/10 Srbeny - some mixed reviews on here, I thought he had a good game, some good hold up play, always positive when he received the ball - looked composed in possession as well and dangerous when he carries the ball forwards. Needs to work on his shooting though. Also seemed to drift out the game but understandable when being moved to left wing and with only 10 men! Tiredness also a factor. 7/10 Cantwell - was surprised to see him starting after clearly being so tired in previous games, but seriously proved me wrong! He was all over the place, demanding the ball and always a useful outlet. Seems very willing to get stuck in and put his body on the line when in possession as well which is really good to see, a faultless performance - I thought Farke had stuck with him with a view to dropping him against W Brom but he’s got some serious thinking to do now! 8.5/10 Rhodes - I know he is not renowned for his hold up play but it seemed weaker than usual, never seemed to get his head up and play the simple pass. Many of his successful lay offs in the second half appeared to be more out of luck than judgement. Did nearly set up a goal for Cantwell with a lovely chip, and the sending off also isolated him from the team even more than he already was so can’t be too critical at all! 5.5/10 Overall an encouraging performance and I’m particularly looking forward to seeing more of Godfrey, McLean and Srbeny for the remainder of the season! Do have concerns about Marshall and Passlack though, don’t think they’ll be used unless Farke’s hand is forced.

Easy solution to it, FA cup needs more money invested. Imagine winning yesterday was worth £10m to us, we deffo would be upset with losing.

The income gained from getting to the Premier League is exponentially greater than any cup run. With the majority of our squad having suffered injury at some point this season, any extra fixtures are likely to lose us more in player fitness than we gain in money or prestige. If we'd have won yesterday that would have been great, but I'd rather have lost the match than won it in a replay. Farke was clearly going for it at the end, he wanted a result one way or another and it could have gone either way.

I can empathise with the op, but players are trained like racehorses these days, they are finely tuned and can easily be overworked. There will still be some players who can take almost anything, but some will struggle with too many matches too close together, which is what happens in cup runs and replays. There is an underlying focus to this season - promotion - and keeping players fit mentally and physically is key to that. This season, given that we are up at the top, has to mean everything is geared to the aim of achieving top two if at all possble. While I agree that cup wins are good for the fans, the club financially and for the fringe players, there is a bigger game at stake here and we can now move on without distraction, get all our players fit and fired up for the main challenge of the season.

I suspect Crafty usually posts on another city forum as his vitriol is more suited there. If he is not vindictive and enjoying his retirement I would not like to meet him when he is having a tough time!

I live in Nottingham - If they won't post to NR postcode, then I don't mind if you want to get it sent here - I'm going to the game so can give it you then. PM me if you need to do that and I'll give you my number/address etc.

Crafty always comes across has a very angry nasty disturbed vindictive person. I really wish he would seek help for his issues for his own sake.

I’d never want us to lose, but I’m not going to lie - a weekend off giving the lads a chance to recharge themselves could truly be for the far greater good regarding our number 1 target this season. Not gutted by this in the slightest, dare I say it, but nevertheless, nice to see a largely second string get some minutes on the pitch 👍

Always disappointing to go out of the cup. Playing a second string side, I’m not sure a replay would have been too much bother (and could have perhaps given squad players a chance to get sharper). Can’t be too upset with the performance though given that it was a second string side and we played with 10 men for most of the game.

What a farce this competition has become when I'm genuinely sat here thinking... cool no reply... no distractions... when that 90+5 goal went in.

This topic does make me look closer at the ridiculous packaging a bit more closer. It's quite simple that people like me need to drastically change the way I buy stuff. For example I wanted some pears. The individual ones were small and rock hard so I bought some packaged ones that were large and sensible. 3 different pieces of packaging wrapped them, 2 non recyclable. My dad bought some cakes from a well known brand. Each slice individually wrapped in a hard plastic shell, with a cardboard outer. (I could also add the multiple Christmas chocolates that came with about four or five different pieces of plastic, card, foil etc.not including wrappers) I know I can't change things on my own but small steps to change my own behaviour, and keeping this topic alive, might help in changing others.
